What is Handshake?
Handshake is a modern platform college recruiting employers can use to post full-time, part-time jobs and
internship opportunities. Handshake allows employers to connect with UMBC talent including current students
and alumni.
What can I do with Handshake?
Handshake is a one-stop shop for recruitment at UMBC. It allows you to:
- Post your opportunities – Employers can target their desired UMBC demographic while posting
their jobs, internships, co-op, and research positions in Handshake. - Search UMBC’s resume database – Filter student profiles to find your target audience and reach
out to them directly – encourage top candidates to apply for your open opportunities or attend your
upcoming recruiting events. - Manage applications – Students and alumni can apply to your opportunities directly in Handshake.
- Promote in-person and virtual recruitment events your company organizes – Once your event is
posted in Handshake and the request to promote your event at UMBC is approved, the event will be
visible to UMBC students and alumni. - Request an on-campus recruiting event – We offer information tabling, we reserve space for in-person information sessions, and have space available for in-person interviewing on campus. For questions, please contact Annie Byrd, Assistant Director of Employer Relations and Recruitment Services at 410-455-8002 or anniebyrd@umbc.edu.
- Register for UMBC Career Center organized recruiting events – You can receive email
announcements informing you of the latest recruiting opportunities and be the first to know when
registration for these events open. These include our Fall and Spring Career & Internship Fairs,
Diversity Recruitment Event, industry-based boutique fairs, among others. For a full list of upcoming
recruiting opportunities, please visit our Career Fairs and Events page.
