Dear Students,

Retrievers Connect, UMBC’s networking and mentorship platform, will no longer be available after September 2026.

We know Retrievers Connect has provided a valuable space to find mentors, expand professional networks, and connect with the UMBC community. We are grateful to everyone who participated and shared their time, advice, and experiences with fellow Retrievers.

As professional networking increasingly takes place on LinkedIn, we are focusing our efforts on helping students use a platform that offers access to UMBC alumni, employers, professionals, industry groups, and opportunities beyond the university. Because many members of our community already maintain a presence there, these connections can continue throughout every stage of your career.

To help you get started, join us for the virtual workshop Keys to Success: Tap Into Retrievers Network Using LinkedIn, offered:

You’ll learn practical strategies for finding alumni and other professionals, making meaningful connections, and turning the Retriever community into a powerful career resource.

We also encourage you to follow the UMBC Career Center on LinkedIn.

Your Retriever network extends far beyond campus, and we hope you’ll take advantage of it.

Retrievers Connect is a professional networking platform, just for UMBC students and alumni. The Career Center, in partnership with the Office of Alumni Engagement, launched this new platform as a way to connect alumni volunteers with students and other alumni to foster the career success of the UMBC community.

You will have the chance to learn from those who have been in your shoes, discover industries and trends, and possibly get feedback on your resume and interviewing skills. These connections could provide you with an inside look into internship and career opportunities as well. It is quick and easy to register using your UMBC ID or your LinkedIn profile.

When you join you will be able to:

  • Access a broad network and support system of alumni
  • Connect directly with alumni through email and video chat by region, organization, or industry
  • Learn about career options in your field and gain knowledge of the work environment
  • Ask alumni about their graduate or professional school experiences
  • Obtain career resources and participate in discussions
  • Join industry communities (coming soon!)
  • Apply to short-term projects (coming soon!)
