We offer a broad range of customizable options for you to connect with our students and recruit qualified interns and full-time employees. There are many ways to increase your visibility, promote your organization, and recruit UMBC students. We find that successful recruiters participate in on-campus and virtual activities throughout the academic year.

UMBCworks – the UMBC Job Network

Use UMBC’s online system, UMBCworks, to post job and internship announcements, search resumes, screen candidates, manage on-campus interview schedules and pre-recruiting events. Networking & Information Sessions

Hosting an on-campus information session enables you to network and teach students about your organization and the opportunities available. Typically, in-person information sessions are held between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday.  We have reserved space on campus and dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  For additional information and to reserve a date, please contact Anna Pittinger, annap5@umbc.edu.

We are also able to assist with planning a virtual information session exclusively for UMBC students or share details about a public session that you are planning to host for several schools.

Career Corner (Information Table)

This series of events is designed to give organizations an opportunity to build their brand on campus and connect with students in a high foot traffic location.  This relaxed atmosphere is conducive to holding casual, one-on-one conversations that approach the table. Career Corners are held Tuesday through Thursday, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm throughout the semester.  Dates are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.  Please contact Anna Pittinger, annap5@umbc.edu, to reserve a date.

UMBC Connects

Each semester, UMBC sets aside several days for partnering organizations to be showcased on campus. A UMBC Connects event provides your organization the opportunity to increase your visibility as a key employing institution and partner of the UMBC community. Your day will be tailored to your organization’s needs and specific goals. Traditional schedules include information sessions, career-related workshops, alumni networking events, lunch and/or receptions, etc. Your event will be highlighted on campus via an extensive advertising campaign, allowing all UMBC students the opportunity to become familiar with your organization as an employer of choice. The Career Center will assist you in designing your event and will take care of campus advertising and logistical details such as parking, reserving facilities, ordering catering, and securing audio/visual equipment. All-inclusive pricing for this event is $1,500.

On-Campus Interviews

The Career Center handles all the logistics of this free recruitment service, including arrangements for a private interview room at the Center.  Interview space must be reserved in advance and is available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.  For additional information and to reserve a date, please contact Anna Pittinger, annap5@umbc.edu.

Virtual Interviews

Unable to come to campus to conduct interviews? Do you prefer to interview candidates virtually?  We are here to assist you with coordinating remote interview schedules.

One of the key factors to a student having a successful remote interview is holding it in a distraction-free space where you the interviewer is able to clearly see and hear the student. The Career Center’s interview rooms are available for UMBC students to reserve for remote interviews. If you are scheduling a remove/virtual interview with a UMBC student, please encourage them to request an interview room.

Career Fairs and Networking Opportunities

UMBC hosts campus-wide job and internship fairs during the fall and spring semesters that typically attract well over 1,000 students, alumni, and community members. We encourage students from all class levels to attend and speak with representatives to learn about an organization’s hiring needs. Please complete the Employer Interest Form so that we can send you full details and registration information for our September and/or February career and internship fairs.

UMBC Career Center Partnership Program

An effective recruiting plan requires building relationships and establishing a presence on campus.  Become a UMBC Career Center Employer Partner and create a lasting impression with our talented students! As a partner, you will have the opportunity to establish your organization’s brand virtually and on the UMBC campus as well as make meaningful connections with students, faculty, and staff.  We will work with you to develop an annual, customized recruiting plan to help you reach your goals. Advertising on Campus

Career Guide

Advertising space is available in the Career Center’s annual Career Guide, published each summer/early fall. Advertisement space can be purchased for as low as $225. See our Career Guide order form for more details.

Retriever Athletics

UMBC Athletics offers employers the opportunity to advertise in UMBC’s athletic facilities and website, and sponsor promotional contests/give-aways.
