Mock Interview Instructions
- Contact the Career Services Center (x5.2216 ,MP204) to schedule your mock interview appointment. If your mock interview is with a career specialist, let us know if you want the interview to be video-taped.
- Review and complete the Interview Checklist. Use this checklist to evaluate yourself prior to the mock interview. You will also need to bring a blank copy of this check list with you to the mock interview, to evaluate yourself afterwards.
- Complete the one-page exercise on Assessing Your Strengths.
It's strongly advised that you make an appointment with a career specialist after completing this exercise to help you further clarify your strengths and career goals. - Review and take quiz in the online workshop, Preparing for the all Important Interview.
- If you are conducting your mock interview with a career specialist, you'll want to select a sample company and position (an actual job description is best) with whom you'd like to "interview." Your career specialist will use this information to target your mock interview.
- Conduct company research on the organization with whom you will be "interviewing". (Employers expect candidates to do company and job research. If no research is conducted, it can severely impact your ability to move on to the next interview phase.)
- For your mock interview appointment, come dressed professionally and bring with you: (1) your resume, (2) sample job description (if applicable) and (3) a blank copy of the Interview Checklist.
