Where are you now?
As of March 30, I will be working as a Benefit Technical Examiner for the Social Security Administration in their Woodlawn, MD headquarters.
What was the best part of using the Career Services Center in your job search?
Having access to the Career Servies Center defintely made my job search easier. It was comforting to know that the problems I was having finding a good job were problems that other alumni were experiencing. The resume critique sessions were helpful, as was the Senior Success Seminar I attended [in the Fall]. For this specific occasion, the job fair I attended at UMBC was the most helpful, as it led to me getting the job I did.
Any advice you would give to other students?
Don't give up too easily. There are going to be rejections before a good job is found. Keep looking and keep turing in good resumes. Use any help you can get to get your foot in the door, and take advantage of the Career Center. The staff at the Career Center are experienced in what they do, so take their critique to heart and make the changes they suggest. |
