The UMBC Career Services Center will be hosting Evening with Industry: Non-Profit and Social Services. This event will be held in the Public Policy lobby from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, Thursday, November 12, 2009.

This program has been created especially for you to meet and network with professionals working in various human services, arts and social science career fields and to learn about career opportunities. If you are interested in working in a career field where you can make a difference you won't want to miss this free event.

There are several things you need to do prior to the event: 

  • RSVP via the events tab in UMBCworks.
  • We will be sending an electronic resume book to participating employers.  You will need to have an approved resume in UMBCworks in order to be included in the book.
  • Put together a professional outfit to wear to the event.
  • Check out the participating employers listed below (available November 5, 2009) and do some research on their organizations.

Athelas Institute, Inc. is a growing non-profit organization continuously seeking to add new, energetic, and creative persons to our team. Community Assitance Network, Inc. provides outreach services to low-income indivduals and families in the community.
The Coordinating Center is a non- profit organization that coordinates the services that people with complex medical needs and disabilities need to stay in their own homes and communities. We also coordinate the steps that are necessary for people to move from nursing homes and institutions to their own homes. We do this by working cooperatively with the people we serve as well as family members, housing agencies, providers of necessary services, and community resources and funders. A statewide organization, The Center is staffed by specialists in nursing, social work, special education and rehabilitation, infants and toddlers services, housing and community resource development.
